Preparation guide

File Naming & Organization

  • Name all tracks clearly in the DAW before export
  • Examples: Kick, Snare, Bass, Lead, FX, Vocal
  • Remove unused or empty audio files
  • Well-balanced stems can be grouped and exported together when useful

Master Bus Processing

  • Compressors / EQ: Keep intentional and creative processing
  • Sound-design related processing should remain active
  • Remove the final limiter before export

Final Stereo Export & Technical Requirements

  • Format: WAV or AIFF
  • Sample rate: Keep the original project sample rate. Examples: 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 96 kHz
  • Bit depth: Minimum 24-bit. 32-bit float preferred
  • Headroom: Peaks between -3 dB and -6 dB
  • Clipping: No clipping on individual channels or the master bus
  • Start / End: Leave approximately half a second of silence before and after the track
  • For mixing: All stems should have identical length

References & Delivery Notes

  • Provide a project link (Dropbox, WeTransfer, Google Drive, or similar service)
  • Include an export of the current project
  • Include 1-2 reference tracks (WAV or Spotify link)
  • Add notes on tone, width, depth, loudness, or artistic goals

Questions people usually ask before booking.

Practical answers on files, turnaround, revisions, stem grouping, and delivery.

Turnaround is usually 3-7 working days after payment has been received and all required files are available. 24h or 48h express options may be possible depending on availability.

Revisions are included so the final sound can be adjusted without losing the original direction. Send timestamped notes so the changes stay focused.

They should stay within the agreed direction, not become a new production.

  • 1:12 kick feels too dominant.
  • 2:45 vocal delay could be lower.
  • Keep the notes concrete instead of vague.

Mastering can improve balance, impact, and tonal clarity, but it cannot fully fix major mix problems. If the mix needs deeper control, Stem Mixing & Mastering is the better fit.

Stereo Mastering works from one stereo file. Stem Mixing & Mastering gives more control when kick, bass, drums, or synth balance still needs work.

For Stereo Mastering, send the final stereo mix as WAV or AIFF.

For Stem Mixing & Mastering, send the individual stems as WAV or AIFF as well.

  • The original sample rate should be kept. 24 bit or higher is recommended.
  • For stems, all files must start at the same point and have the same length.
  • Clear file names are especially important for stem projects so every element can be assigned correctly.

Yes, if available. A rough mix shows the intended direction, energy, and balance of the track and helps me understand existing decisions. This is especially useful for Stem Mixing & Mastering.

My focus is electronic music, from deep house and minimal through techno to harder styles. I occasionally work on projects outside that range as well. If in doubt, just send a no-obligation request.

Analog refinement means routing selected material through high-quality hardware to add depth, character, and movement when it benefits the track.

Yes. 24h and 48h express delivery can be booked when availability, file readiness, and project scope make the deadline realistic.

Grouped stems reduce routing time and keep decisions focused because the main musical roles are clear from the start.

Group stems logically. If an element is important or you are unsure, leave it as a separate stem so it can be treated precisely.

  • Kick
  • Bass
  • Drums
  • Main Synths
  • Support Synths
  • Vocals
  • FX

Good headroom leaves space for mastering decisions and makes it easier to control loudness, transients, and the club translation.

Leave effects on if they are part of the sound. If they are optional or experimental, export a clean version too when possible.

I point out the issues before work starts, and if the problems are too deep for mastering alone, I say that directly.

Yes. If you have alternatives, send the versions that matter and add a short note about what changed.

References that match the groove, low-end feel, and club energy are most useful.

Yes. If the track changes later, you can book another pass once the new version is ready.
